I remember Johnny Carson only vaguely. Kind of like the way I remember the Cold War. Both were giant influential presences always in the background of life. Both my parents and grandparents generation watched and enjoyed Carson. I even enjoyed watching him, but I didnt really appreciate him until he retired. None of the current late night hosts can seem to conduct a decent interview.
60 Minutes tonight showed a great old interview with Mike Wallace and Johnny Carson. It shows Carson as a man from a different era of entertainers and television. It is also interesting to hear his views on introducing politics into his show. Its also interesting to see what a pompous snake Mike Wallace was and not as the distinguished journalist affectation he puts on these days.
