I received the following photos from a trusted friend. They came with the following message and description:
"This is Chuck Ritchey, Sr. I have watched this man work on the beach at Ocean City, Maryland. Each time I watch him I marvel at his talent and fortitude because it is true that his works get washed away with the tide and he does them again. He is certainly a witness for Jesus Christ as thousands of people, in the course of a day, view his work and watch as he crafts his treasures. May his message be viewed by many."
The message concludes this way:
"Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections!
God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but HE did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears & light for the way."

Thank you for posting these. It takes me back to my childhood, when we lived on the Eastern Shore, and I got to live at Ocean City a month every summer. There were sand sculptures -- not as excellent as these -- on the wide, downtown beach, with a blanket for donations next to them.

I was born and raised in Baltimore. We would go to "The Commander Hotel" in Ocean City, MD. every August for 2 weeks. I remember the "salt water taffy" in a quaint shop on the boardwalk. Great memories of my childhood and August in Ocean City! :)

"I went to sleep for a few minutes and some damn kids buried me up to my neck. I'd dig my way out, but have you ever tried to lift sand with a fork? That's how it is, with the holes in my hands. When high tide comes, I'll walk out on the water."

Hey Homies! As a kid I stayed at the Homestead just west of Baltimore Ave on 14th street. Family still goes there every year. CHARLITE, remember Paul the umbrella guy?
Congressman, where on the shore? I was born in Easton.

Sand Homies:
I spent my early years in Salisbury, Maryland, and went to OC almost every summer through 1960. We stayed in an apartment at 11th and Boardwalk, across the street from the Royalton.
My first job in the capitalistic economy was selling the Sunpapers by bicycle in OC. The papers arrived by sea plane to a dock on the bay side at about 6th Street. That was an educational experience.

See posts 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13!! Even if these photos have been around the net for several years, I had never seen them before and apparently others enjoyed them also! Notice how the location - Ocean City, MD. revived fond childhood memories for lots of viewers!

Just thought the intro -
"I received the following photos from a trusted friend. "
was interesting wording -
Do a google search for "Randy Hofman" and you will find many more of his works.

The "trusted friend" is one of the many wonderful Vietnam vets whom I "met" (in cyberspace) while working to expose and defeat John Kerry in the many months leading up to the election. He passes things along which he finds interesting. The photos of the sand sculpture from Ocean City, MD. came from him.
