First, let me say I am a Christian, and am anti-abortion. I have read quite a bit about the Terri Schiavo case and my heart goes out to her and her family, and yes, even her husband.
I'm quite sure I will take a lot of flak for this opinion, as everyone here seems determined to keep this poor woman alive.
It seems no one is sure whether or not she is in a persistive vegetative state, and doctors on both sides are firm in their convictions.
I only know that if it was me, I would, without a doubt, NOT want to be kept alive this way. Terri doesn't have the capability to state what she wants, but had she been if asked the question when she was healthy, (as her husband states) most likely, she would not want these ongoing court battles, the media circus and the heartbreak for all involved. Really, would any of us want that for our families?
I believe in letting her die with dignity. I do not believe it is murder. I have made sure to tell my family members, if this ever happens to me, do not keep me alive in this state.
May God's will be done.
By starvation?
She's responsive. Have you seen the balloon video?

As a Christian, I would hope you could muster a little more faith that the God of yesterday is still the God of Today and that a simple touch from him can still produce miracles.

My belief is that God's will is being shortcircuited by man's will.
Allowed to die? You mean someone should manually remove her feeding tube.
That's what this case is. It's Terri's feeding tube. I wouldn't let a comatose DOG starve to death.
In this case I would say I disagree. She looks responsive to me. I don't believe that she is totally vegatative.

starving is cruel. Look at that women just last week that spoke for the first time after being in a vege state for 20 years. We do not decide when she should die. That is for the Lord to decided. To not feed her is I feel an act of murder. A court deciding her fate goes way outside the bounds of what a court should decide. She has not committed a crime to be sentenced to death..
If you were to allow a dog to die by starvation/dehydration, you would likely be arrested and charged with cruelty to an animal. Does that not strike you as odd?
So what about Retarded people? What about people born retarded? Can we kill them too, because they can't say what they want?

Just how does one go about dying with dignity while every cell in your body is screaming for hydration?
The dignified thing to do would be for Michael Schiavo to release Terri to her parents. But he doesn't have a dignified bone in his body.
Starve a puppy? No. Starve a person?

How can you oppose abortion and support "choice" to starve?
There's a helpful little phrase, "slippery slope," overused as it may be.
Do you know what death by starvation is like?
Not even in this case. WHO are we to say who lives and who dies?
In the Netherlands last year, 22 babies were Euthanized, some because of Spinal Bifida.
