I don't think that the Republicans have done much for the Buckeye State. I too think that Bob Taft sucks.
I hail from Cincinnati, one of the most conservative cities in America. I remember when the UC Bearcats played the Ohio State Buckeyes at Paul Brown Field. Taft came out to make some opening remarks and was booed.
The only reason he is governor is that we don't want to elect a democrat, what with the way the democratic party is going. But people in this state do not care for Bob Taft or the republican rule either.
What happened to the idea of smaller government? Was all that just rhetoric? Modern day republicans show a striking resemblence to the tax and spend liberalsa of days gone by.
This country needs a new democratic party to keep republicans in check. It is sad that the conservatives that once kept those donkeys grounded have left or have been booted out of the party. I could vote for a guy like Joe Liberman, and they need more people like him.
To Taft's credit, he is a fan of vouchers. I think that vouchers are one of the most important social issues of the day. We need to end the government monopoly on education and indoctrination. Taft supports them, and he supports the Cleveland voucher program. I would love to have a voucher system in Cincinnati. Our system of public education in this town is in chaos.
