(Vanity) The Cylon Empire and the PRC (Peoples Republic of China)

In this episode of Battlestar Galactic (link below), a very cute female pilot ‘Boomer’ starts to see signs she is programmed by the Evil Cylon Empire. Two copies of Boomer are romantically involved with two different human guys who want to protect them (if you see Boomer it will be obvious why) until they find out the truth. As reality sets in to herself about who she really is (in later episodes), Boomer tries to do herself in with a gun but misses. During the season finale last Friday she shoots Commander Adama on the bridge, an ultimate act of betrayal. Also interesting and more relevant to the below discussion is Baltar the traitor. He is a human but had an affair with a blond bombshell Cylon Babe who put a computer chip in his head so she can visit him wherever he goes and tell him what to do.

As I read about the history of the PRC (Peoples Republic of China) in the book below, it is obvious that they did a lot better job of brainwashing the people than the other communist nations. It was not enough to stay quiet in China in the 50s, 60s and early 70s; you had to repeat the ideological nonsense in public to keep out of trouble. Pre-Communist China was a dictatorship but did not engage in mass brainwashing. I have heard on FNC that so many or most of the PRC people currently think that China would collapse into anarchy, be invaded, or the people would starve, ironically the starved under Mao, if they had another form of government. They also repeat the PRC line on other issues such as US imperialism and aggression. This is a good example because the same people want the PRC to take over the Democratic Taiwan. The recent immigrants I have talked to (<10 years) sound as if they have the ‘computer chip' in their heads that brings Chairman Mao into their face and tells them what to believe. It is eerily similar to what the Cylons do with Baltar. Ask recent immigrants from the PRC what they think on issues to see if this is really true.

Of course there must be exceptions (but I have not met many.) The younger generation born in the 80s were not under Mao but heard how great he was from the parents. The one exception is Mao's Cultural Revolution in the late 60s. They say that period was so terrifying and painful that it is not talked about (the computer chip stops that.) At first I thought my immigrant neighbors were scared to criticize the PRC, possibly because of the safety of their families back home, but now I am convinced they actually believe what they say.

This does not apply to people from Hong Kong or Taiwan; in contrast, those people and their parents have grown up with freedom. Unfortunately Hong Cong has fell under the Red Shadow and the PRC wants Taiwan next.

My latest pet peeve: China (PRC) complains about Japan’s school history books on WWII but of does not teach history themselves. Instead they still teach the school children political propaganda (such as America is Imperialist nation.) Let’s see the PRC history book that tells the Chinese children that the US rescued China from Japan without anything to gain.

Give me a Cylon that looks like Boomer, or #6 any day. I'd also be happy with Starbuck, whether she was a Cylon or human.

I never really watched Battlestar Galactica but the ChiComs do remind me of Star Trek's borg. Absorbing entire countries and anhillating entire cultures and freedom.

I never saw more than a few episodes of Battlestar Galactica so I know little about the Cylons, but have personally seen the PRC more like Star Trek's Borg. Forcefully annexing people into their colective. Tibet, Xiangjanig, and they want to do it with Taiwan.
