WOW! That graphic is getting me mighty thirsty with anticipation of this evening's rum sipping session. BTW, have you ever tried Flor de Cana? Incredible stuff!

No, I have not. But if you are a salesman for them, you're doing a good job. I may have to pick up a bottle.

You are getting me VERY THRISTY with those Flor de Caña pics! They have 21 year old aged rum? I didn't know that. I thought the max was 18 year old aged rum. One problem with drinking these quality aged rums is that you can NEVER be satisfied with regular rum again.

Happened to me with Scotch. I used to drink Johnny Walker Black, then tried some single malts, and now I'm hooked and can't go back. I like Glen Fiddich 15 yr old, but at $38/bottle you have to make it last.

The DUmmies provide so much raw material, it's hard to know where to start. ;^P

Specifically heroin, right?

Besides heroin, methadone clinics are also available to addicts who are addicted to any opiate--including oxycontin, hydrocodone and percoset. At least in my state.

methadone- 60-70mg daily for chronic pain
Holy Moses Andy! I take 5mg of methadone every 6 hours to manage my back pain. And believe me, this hurts most of the time. The reason the docs prescribe methadone is because it lasts 6 hours as opposed to 4 for most codeine based products. 20mg a day takes the edge off, why in the world would you need any more than that? You're right PJ, methadone is synthetic heroin!

60-70mg of this stuff would put a horse down! This is the equivalent of a couple hundred dollar a day smack habit. I don't know how in the heck this person is even awake, let alone functional! I sure hope the DEA lurks around in the Dumpster. I am quite sure a number of these folks are breaking the law.

There's another DUmmie taking vicodin and percocet. My doctor would consider this illegal! I'll lay odds this one is going to different doctors in order to get her prescriptions filled. The DEA made it illegal a few years ago to go "doctor shopping" in order to obtain these pain killers from more than one source. I had to sign a contract with my physician in order to get on a program to manage chronic pain. Two stipulations that will make this contract "null and void", one is going to more than one doctor, and the other is shopping at more than one pharmacy.

What they fail to understand is, by behaving this way it makes it nearly impossible for the minority of our population who actually hurt every single day, to obtain decent chronic pain management. It took me nearly 3 years to get anyone to even take me seriously due to all of the fraud in workman's compensation claims.

My ex was on 120 mgs of Methadone a day--from an old heroin habit. He is a respected attorney now, and still takes 60-70 mgs a day. He is trying to get off it, it really is harder to kick than heroin, which is why junkies should go to detox and not a methadone clinic.

For my ex, its about not getting sick; he does not get any kind of high from it. He is very conscientious about it and follows all the rules laid down by the clinic; which include NOT taking any kind of benzodiazepine, muscle relaxant or opiate. Its a hellish addiction.

what a depressive bunch--guess when hippies grow up they move from the illegal stuff to the legal stuff

"The problem here in the UK is that doctors are overworked and far less inclined to spend time tweaking meds until they get things just right for a patient, which I find incredibly frustrating"

the problem in the UK is socialized medicine! these people are obviously too doped up to realize this.

My fiend Blanche took Lasix, but it just made her wanna horse around.

Considering Lasix is a fairly potent diuretic (fluid pill), does she pee like a racehorse?

Sometimes you need a combination to work. Different symptoms, different pills. It just like buying tylenol for a headache, sudafed for a stuffy nose, etc. and taking them at the same time.

"60-70mg of this stuff would put a horse down!"

Don't forget that he said he takes it with 50-60mg flexeril. Flexeril is a muscle relaxant and normal doses are 5-10mg. It makes you very drowsy. I pass out on 10mg. (only took it a couple of times for muscle spasms)

This explains much. DU is apparently the online home for those who believe in the philosophy of Timothy Leary - "Tune in. Turn on. Drop out."

"which include NOT taking any kind of benzodiazepine, muscle relaxant or opiate. "

And this guy takes it with massive doses of flexeril which is a muscle relaxant.

Crohn's Disease is not fatal in itself, but can lead to other complications.. obstructions, cancer of the colon, etc.

I know this because my friend has it, and for a while the doctors thought that I might as well. Mine is actually just IBS, though... which isn't very fun, itself, but I digress.

Very stupid of the DUmmie. If he is getting his methadone from a clinic, he's in trouble. They drug test for that stuff monthly and take you off the juice for a positive result. And if he gets it from a doctor (or the street, junkies with take-home privileges often sell their dose to eager junkie pals who've been kicked off the clinic) he's still in trouble. Methadone taken with other prescription drugs can really tear up the liver. Not to mention IBS and all sorts of stomach problems.
