I spent this past weekend camping in Quebec.

Very nice, by the way. I had a great political discussion with two Quebecois liberals. One of Italian descent, one Chinese. Both liberals.

They were both on me about how America is seen as a bully. The Italian guy was telling me about how he had recently visited France, and that he was surprised at how much the French "don't like America."

At that point, I had an idea. I turned to the Chinese guy, and said "Do Taiwan people like China?"

Completely derailed the argument. At that point the Italian guy started going at it with the Chinese guy about Taiwan, and then (imagine my delight) about Tibet!

I've never handled a political discussion with liberals so well, I must say. Understand, I didn't want to talk politics at all. I just wanted to relax. They started it, as soon as they found out I was an American.

Are you sure they were liberals then? They sound like the conservative fringe of Quebec...
