NEWS UPDATE: London Bombing (Preliminary Facts and Figures)
Canada Free Press

Posted on 07/07/2005 8:27:45 AM PDT by Alexander Rubin

UPDATE: Casualties Rapidly Mounting

45 confirmed dead.

At least 300 injured, over 150 seriously

Terrorism very likely at this point (there was thoughts it was a transformer explosion at one point).

The British found many bombs in the tube; demolition experts are isolating them and setting them off to minimize damage.

The attack appears to be coordinated, time-sensitive attacks. First initial blasts to sow confusion, and disrupt the tube, then the other stations were targeted, then the bus was hit (it was a tour bus, btw).

There were at least 6 bombs, many are saying far more. Several stations appear to be hit (I've heard anywhere from 3-7).

Armoured vehicles have been moved into the city centre, which has been shut down. The army is patrolling in some parts.

I will have more for you folks as it develops, and as Canada Free Press gets more info.

Champagne corks popping at DNC & Moveon.org.

Of course. I know of a guy in another politics room who rejoices every time a U.S. soldier is killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. In another era, such rejoicing would be grounds for a hanging.

Standing right up there waving my Stars too!

I did laugh watching Fox this morning when Blair gave his speech, Martin was notably at the end of the line when they exited. Sigh. How far Canada has fallen.

The next election can't come soon enough. Let's hope we get it "right" ;)

The liberals will still blame America for the London blast, or will start to come up with conspiracy theories that the USA and England planned these attacks to keep the war on terror going.

Yes. It won't be long, I'm sure, 'til we hear this. In their cockeyed view of the world, up is down and down is up..

I agree, of course.

Shortly, I will pull a fast cull of links related to this- gathering them now.

Yep. Ignore the fact that hundreds of Jews died in 9/11 (and then consider the Jewish population of America and compare the proportions). Casualty wise, it was equivalent of a year or so of terror in Israel likely.

How did you come up with the New York Times headline for tommorrow already?

Also, by the weekend they will be blaming Bush.

You got that right. Hitlery, Kennedy, and Kerry doing the high fives, and tossing back a few with the subversive traitors and terrorists at moveon, and pfaw. Jail them all at Gitmo, and launch an invasion of Syria, and Iran coordinated with our heroic friends in Israel.

I don't think so. I am hoping the Brits will shake off their decades long funk and remember the virtues that allowed them to undaunted face the Nazi hordes alone and outnumbered, with courage and fortitude born of faith in G-d and country.

At least one poster at DU is wondering about Karl Rove. (Post 109, in case the link doesn't take you directly to it).

Rush predicted this when he opened his show this morning, although he thought it might take more than a day.

And lurking there, I saw people were suspicious of Israeli involvement, because Britain had warned their ambassador they had had word of a possible terrorist attack.

As the world gets more and more absurd, it becomes a living(dying?) parody of itself.
