The word Hypocrisy is not sufficient to describe liberals now singing the praises of the Army Corps of Engineers. The Corps has been busy for decades raping landscapes, diverting rivers and streams, and doing incalculable damage to wetlands and other wildlife habitat in the name of "flood control." It has rammed through boondoggle monstrosities such as the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Responsible liberals and environmentalists have been screaming about it for years. Now when it suits them politically, the Corps is a genius agency that could have averted this disaster if only those bad old Republicasn had given them all the money they asked for.

The Corps of Engineers, by the way, is not even responsible for the levees that broke in New Orleans. It is responsible only for the levees on the Mississippi River and Lake Ponchartrain, which are interstate waterways, not the canals that connect the two, which are local and are managed by local levee boards. Of course, the MSM will never tell you about this.

I THOUGHT that was the case! I knew "levee boards" existed but I wasn't sure exactly what their responsibilities were. This is another fact that NEEDS to be spread far and wide, as the local dim Democraps try to place the blame on the Corp, the Prez, and every other entity in sight.
