This is serious, and not an insult or joke

I contacted OPTIC in San Francisco. This is a group that helps transgendered in crisis. I was told that three members of the TG/TV [transgender/transvestite?] community in NO were coming to SF as they are victims of Katrina.

What had sparked my call to OPTIC was this idea: The professional TV performers in NO have also lost, homes, personal possessions, jobs. So I wanted to start collecting items that would allow them to re=establish their careers, items such as sequins, feathers, fabrics, etc. OPTIC actually thought it was a good idea. The OPTIC organizer is Dawnne and can be contacted at XXXXX.XXXX

I am contacting other costumers I know for donations.

1. You might want to write AFTRA and SAG unions about your idea, and OPTIC's program.

2. Good Idea

I have family in those unions. I'll contact them.

dukeman,

I missed the very first line of your post ("The DUers think of everything!:")

I thought YOU were asking FReepers to start collecting "items such as sequins, feathers, fabrics, etc.". My company has been collecting donations for Katrina evacuees, but this is a bit of a stretch.

Doesn't being "transgendered" mean you are in permanent, nonstop crisis?
