Mirkarimi and Adachi apparently hired a “Mexican bus” and along with 60 supporters, traveled to San Quentin for the vigil. When asked via e-mail if taxpayers had footed the bill for this little outing, Mirkarimi insisted that the group itself had “contributed” to the costs. Whether or not their contributions covered all the costs remains unknown.
