Kennedy, Byrd, Kerry, and McClellan on the Alito Nomination

Senator Ted Kennedy blogged as follows today:

The right wing is salivating over the prospect of Justice Alito on the Supreme Court, and the Republican majority in the Senate intends to rubber-stamp the nomination. The only realistic way to stop this nightmare is to stand up using tool [sic] we have….The Senate Judiciary Committee hearings confirmed our worst fears, and we have to take the strongest possible stand against …. this shameful nomination….I will not be able to stay in front of the computer, as I have quite a bit to take care of today.

If you can stay in front of the computer, check out a video of Senator Robert Byrd discussing those Senate Judiciary Committee hearings that Senator Kennedy mentioned (Byrd’s full written statement is here).

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: 109th; alito; alitovote; edwardkennedy; scotus
Now this is low, even for Kennedy; playing of the worst, dumb delusions of the Kos kids. They're going to be very upset tomorrow when this filibuster attempt falls well short of the 41 votes needed.

How absurd.

Ted is out having a scotch and soda.

His "aide" is the one who blogged.

It's good to see guys like Fat Ted (did I remember to mention that he killed a girl?) forced to play to the most ridiculous and silly segment of the Democratic party. I can almost hear him singing "Abortion Uber Alles".

Please "photo shop" that thing. We Southerners don't like the idea of Ted drinking our good Jack Daniels. Besides the Kennedy drug of choice is Scotch.

The Senate Judiciary Committee hearings confirmed our worst fears, that I am a complete idiot, who has no shame, given my record of hypocrisy and at the least negligent homicide.

There, that makes the statement fit with the facts.

Byrd's statement is pretty well thought out, whether you agree with it or not. His process brought him to the conclusion that Alito is qualified.

Maybe it's only in my own mind, but it seems, years ago, there more congresscritters who were more thoughtful about their positions and reasons for being at that point.

I think Teddy probably will toss back anything above the grade of mouthwash that he can get his fat, little, piss-stained fingers around.

Byrd's process is called checking the polls. The guy is in in danger of being voted out in the next election.
