Russian deliveries of military hardware to the Palestian authority may be fullfilled if only approved by Israel, says Russian Vice Premier and Minister of Defense Mr. Sergey Ivanov.
Any deliveries of hardware may be done only through Israels territory and if Israel approves them Ivanov said to journalists on Friday during his visit to Tamanskaya division based in Moscow oblast (province).
Ivanov doesnt see any reason why Israel may object the delivery.
This issue [on supplying military equipment to Palestinians] is on preliminary consideration stage, ITAR-TASS quotes.
The Chief of Russian General Headquarters Army General Mr. Yuri Baluevski said on Thursday that Russia may supply military hardware to the Palestian Authority depending on results of the Moscow talks with leaders of Hamas.
Earlier a source in the Russian Ministry of Defense told that Russia planned to supply two transport helicopters and 50 armoured personnel carriers to the Palestian Authority.
The source pointed out the personnel carriers were to be used only by the Palestinian police forces. The helicopters were meant to be used by senior Palestinian officials.
The same source said the equipment would be supplied from the inventory of the Russian military after an extended pre-sale maintenance procedure.
