Or were your guys just trying to discourage the Republican voters in the western time zones from voting, by making them think it was no use so why try?

Which is what they tried in 2000 by falsely calling Florida for Gore so early.

Remember, too, how in the 2000 election, one of the networks reported that all of the polls in Florida were closed...an hour before the polls in the panhandle had closed, because they were on Central time. They said that was an "error". Fat chance.

I work in I.T. I'm part of a team that supports thousands of servers in the Americas, and I work with people in various parts of the globe. In my job, I ALWAYS have to be aware of the time zone that affects any server that I touch (and by extension, its users).

By the same token, people in the media have to be equally aware of the time zones...which states are in more than one time zone, which areas of the country convert between Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time. This is ESPECIALLY true during an election, when they have to be responsible enough to let voters know when the polls open and close in each precinct.

Bottom line: I don't believe this was an "error", even for a second.
