I wanted to post this information because in my happy browsing of liberal nutbag websites today, the DUmmies are claiming that its all a hoax about Zarqawi, since he was not blown to bits in the explosion.
I thought it might be instructive to all to have a nice little detailed explaination of the effects of overpressure on the human body, and how these bombs actually do their jobs, while keeping collateral damage to a minimum.
Anyone who watched the video of the bombing should note that while Zarqawi's hideout was destroyed, houses surrounding it were left intact, along with any people they might have contained.

You can feel a pressure wave just standing next to somebody firing a highpowered rifle.

Thanks for posting this information, PD!
Al Jazeera claims showing the photos of him dead is a violation of the Geneva Conventions! Now this is a sweet irony..how many times did they SHOW the tapes of beheadings, of dead GI's and on and on...and NOW they claim this?
The general who gave the briefing this morning in Iraq said there were a LOT gorier pics- but they CHOSE only to show the ones where they'd cleaned him up.

Wow! This sounds almost as bad as being incinerated in a big tall building after it was hit by an airliner filled with jet fuel flown by a group of insane, intolerant Islamofascist fanatics.
And it's almost as bad as being crushed to death by a large collapsing building or being forced to leap to your death from a 90 to 100 floor building by intense flames caused by a jetliner crashing into your office.
Is it as bad as having your head chopped off by a backwards, barbaric, POS Islamofascist pig? Or being stoned to death by your own family because you were forcibly raped by a member of your own family?

5 psi overpressure at the Nevada Proving Ground in the 50's. Don't mess with rapidly moving air.

Thanks for posting this, PukinDog.
Poor DUmmies, their widdle bwains suffering from "psychic overpressure" because the United States had a REALLY good day in the War On Terror and they have to face the fact that we ARE going to win it...

This creates such a lovely, enchanting scene ... one I can play over and over in my mind as I hum The Battle Hymn of the Republic and watch the liberals implode in impotent fury.

Maybe he was outside taking a dump, in which case the shock wave ejected his waste before the resulting vacuum rammed it back into every orifice of his body. One can hope.

Not that I'd want to be Zarqawi's neighbor when the bombs went off...
but seeing the debris mostly go straight up and dust blast down the open streets...
PRICELESS.
And just as surgical as possible in the real world.

I'll believe we're starting to take this thing seriously when they start burying these guys in boxes along with the bodies of pigs, with their asses pointed towards Mecca. Moreover, it seems obvious that the guy in charge of a place like Gitmo or Abu Ghraib should be a hog farmer on general principles.

Thanks so much for this post, Dog. I certainly don't know anything about the effect of bomb blasts (except that they're really, really unpleasant) on the human body, and I now have some facts at my disposal.

So basically dismemberment would come from flying debris or the body hitting something that could cause dismemberment, correct?

Hate to burst your bubble [I know, does not apply, but it is a great pun line for the topic anyway...]
What kills the majority of folks during a 500 lbs bomb blast is secondary effects... not overpressure. Hard to keep living when the chair from the other room has just been inserted into your torso. Notice the photos were of the face... I have not seen any pictures of the body.

I just wish the description in the original post happened to Zarqawi slowly. Too bad it happens near instantaneously!

From an article in
The Australian -
The house, and all inside it, was wiped out. However, Jordanian sources last night said Zarqawi did not die instantly. Though mortally wounded, he was alive when Iraqi and US troops arrived on the scene.
That was after two bombs. Sounds like he had time to think about it a little. Kinda makes ya warm all over...

Good one Pukin' - I wish I had Osama's email address, to send him a copy. And he's liable to get the special deluxe thermobaric edition too.
