This is the first article I'm writing in a series of at least once-weekly articles discussing some of the lies that have been foisted on the public by the schools, the media, and our 'leaders' which have been widely accepted. I am going to start a Lies pinglist for people who are interested, and I'm hoping I'll get a significant number of people on it. If you want on or off this ping list, FRMail me.

Although this topic is commented on frequently, probably every day, there are still an unlimited number of people who haven't got the point and some never will.

We have a republican system of government. However, that government is chosen (with the exception of the President and Vice-President) via democratic elections.
Saying that "America is a democracy" is a "lie" is going a bit far. It's more an issue of semantics than anything particularly dishonest. We are clearly not a pure democracy, but then again, no system that depends on elected representatives can be -- a pure democracy would have to require every decision to be made by public referendum, which is utterly impractical beyond a small community-sized population.

BTTT!
It's a fine column, I wish schools were required to teach that the United States is a constitutional republic and not at democracy. As it stands, the only time most children probably even hear the word republic is in the Pledge of Allegiance, and if the left has it's way, that will soon be disappearing.
Please add me to your ping list.
