Although this topic is commented on frequently, probably every day, there are still an unlimited number of people who haven't got the point and some never will.
I almost considered doing something else for the first article in this series, but I thought it might be best to do something that more people might've been familiar with initially.
No doubt, there is not a shortage of thick skulls in this world. Many of them live in Washington.

Democracy is a fairly safe topic to start the series. Not completely safe, nothing is completely safe. For instance, we all think we know what 'public' means, and also 'public property.' We also think we know what 'rights' are, and what the 'state' is. If it were so simple there wouldn't be entire shelves of books on these topics in the public library.
