The GOP's November surprises are even better. Mass quantities of people voting for GOP candidates qualify as GOP dirty tricks in DUmmieland.

That's good to hear :)

I don't get mad at folks who don''t vote (and thank God when some of them stay home) but I can't imagine missing it when I consider what's been given to buy me the right. One of my proudest days was when one of my brothers told me, "I vote every general elction. I'm not political enough to get into that primary stuff, but when it comes to november, I couldn't stay away because I figure you bought my right to vote." He was referring to my Air Force service.

It wasn't me that bought it, it was the blood of heroes...but I sure liked the sentiment.

Most of the fraud in Illinois is cooked up by manufacturing ballots after the fact. That's exactly how the Daley machine gave the presidency to Kennedy, for instance, cranking out votes in back rooms by sending the Dem ballorts through the counting machines two or three times. The same thing in Texas, where Nixon got about 24 votes in one precinct, and Kennedy somewhere over a hundred--in a precinct with less than 90 registered voters.

In some of the Milwaukee precincts two years ago there were far more votes than registered voters, but I'm not sure if they were machine generated by the above method or real votes cast by people who took advantage of the lax ID requirements.

Probably both.

Not to mention that I suspect (though I can't prove it) that there's been at least some voter fraud in and near the four major college campuses in Milwaukee (in order from most likely to have seen fraud to least):

-UWM (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee)
-MATC (Milwaukee Area Technical College)
-MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering)
-Marquette University

I still remember being shocked by Reagan's first win. All of the news reporting left me to believe there was just no way he was gonna defeat Carter.

About 1900 ft or so. At the moment we have crystal clear skies, brisk winds and 51 degrees. A tad cool on the deck.

I live about 7 mile south of the TN line on the GA side of Lookout Mt, Scenic Hwy.

I made a mistake. The forecast for the weekend has been revised since I last checked it. Now the low will be in the 70s. Today I was outside in SWELTERING heat. For some reason the cold fronts are fizzling out before they arrive here.

Keep it up & we're gonna figure out a way to send some of the real ones down to y'all. All it would take would be a dip in the Jet Stream. When it stays North, it blocks off the Alberta Clippers. When it moves South, it drags those nasty Clippers right in. You see a cold front as a relief, whereas round here they can spell "Arctic" air, though we don't get those this early in the season.

I heard is was gonna get back up into the 60's later in the week, which will be called "Indian Summer".

With all of six replies, one his own.

I thought he was supposed to "disappear" soon - guess his hearing hasn't come up yet.

Here in VA, you have to show your voter reg. card, along with a picture ID, and have it all checked against a list of eligible voters.

Most the poll workers know me, since my brother is the computer networker for the entire county government, and I haven't missed an election since I could first vote, which has been every year since 1977....
