It is up to each voter to decide for him or herself whether Strickland's sexual orientation is relevant. Given that the overwhelming majority of Ohioans voted to limit marriage to one man and one woman, they may not want a politician who will kowtow to the gay agenda. Besides, even if someone takes your position that Strickland's sexual orientation will have no bearing on the positions he takes as governor, the fact that he continues to retain as one of his top staffers a known sexual predator is something that the "Hastert-must-resign!" crowd should be interested in hearing about.

While I don't particularly care what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedrooms, it looks like Strickland may use his office for unseemly ends. The latter is very relevent, regardless of the motive.

He continued to retain the staffer after the allegations, but the staffer left of his own accord later on, roughly a year later.
The staffer somehow got his record expunged which is why his name does not appear on any sex offender websites.
And yes, people called for Hastert to resign over less than this.
