"I demand the American people to take note of their government's policy against Muslims. They described the government's policy against Vietnam as wrong. They should now take the same stand that they did previously. The onus is on Americans to prevent Muslims from being killed at the hands of their government." OBL, "Messages to the World" at 141.
Message received great sheik! We voted just like you commanded us. Anything else? We'll be letting you have Iraq ASAP. And would you like some nukes to use on us?
OBL went to school on how Ho Chi Minh beat the US. Real simple. Empower and fire up the opposition "peace" party. Dupe the media with bombings, film ("images") and the steady drip of American deaths. Play on the complete lack of patience of the American people. And their "feelings." Divide and conquer. Real simple.
US pulls out. Bad guys win. End of story.
But there's more here! Ho Chi Minh never had the desire or ability to launch some nukes on California. OBL would LOVE that capacity. Even worse, he would actually DO IT. I'm looking foward to the nuclear arms race between Iran and Iraq. Guess who loses that one?
We now have to suffer the spectacle of General-for-Life Jack Murtha defunding the troops or moving them to Okinawa. Jack Murtha: a GREAT American who barely escaped jail in the bribe scheme knowns as Abscam.
Conyers and Waxman crank up the investigations. Death by a thousand cuts of the Executive Branch.
Biden, Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry will try to conduct their own separate foreign policy. I don't think even Sen. Byrd's copy of the Constitution says anything about a plagerizer from Delaware being in charge of foreign policy. Or maybe there's a footnote about how Senators known for their car driving skill over bridges being moved to the head of foreign policy establishment.
And my personal favorite is now the disgraced and impeached former federal judge, Alicee Hastings, is in line to lead the House Intelligence Committee. AQ can cancel its NYT subscription and get the REALLY GOOD secrets from Judge Hastings for a few dollars more.
The Constitution is quite clear. There is only ONE Commander-in-Chief. There is only ONE voice in foreign policy.
But today everyone FEELS like they know better. They can second-guess. As a society we are consumed by second-guessing and criticism. They want to be in charge. They want the power. They are SMARTER than that dummy Bible-thumper Geo. Bush.
I'm just shocked and dismayed about how we have failed to learn the real lessons of Vietnam. OBL knows what Ho Chi Minh did and he just followed the playbook.
Maybe George Bush can save America. But it just got a whole lot tougher.
The really dispiriting thing is that the American people are either complete wimps or total dopes. Not sure which. Maybe both. OBL is dead right about the lack of patience the American people suffer. I guess that comes from watching too much TV.
We don't deserve the brave, smart and dedicated men and women of our military. They defend our freedom. They deserve better.

They died for nothing again.
