FYI:

"As currently configured, the FDA is not able to adequately protect the American public. It's more interested in protecting the interests of industry. It views industry as its client, and the client is someone whose interest you represent."

- Dr. David Graham, senior drug safety researcher at the Food and Drug Administration, and Vioxx whistleblower

Good grief. You don't understand the FDA at all. The FDA is motivated by politics, public opinion and not making mistakes. Just because some researcher makes a claim doesn't make it so. The FDA and industry, for the most part, have a very adversarial relationship. They have nothing to gain from helping industry. The FDA treats industry as bad as everyone else.

They are certainly not perfect or infallible but they are absolutely light years better than what existed before. They are bureaucrats of the worst kind who sit on drugs and treatments that could save or improve lives because they're scared to make a mistake however, we operate better than any other country in the world.

BTW, I believe Vioxx will make it back to the market but with many more limitations, despite what Dr. Graham, disgruntled former employee, has to say. Of course, that's besides the point. Humans have been consuming soy for thousands of years. We consume more today per capita then ever before. Our health and life expectancy have never been better. If the FDA had solid research proving that soy was harmful, especially to children, they'd act on it. They don't because that research doesn't exist.
