Sounds like apologetics to me, but at least he tried to be fair.

I don't subscribe to the "everybody does it" defense of corruption the way many conservative apologists do.

Democrats invented the phrase (the Clinton Years, anyone?). Obviously, this writer is a partisan hack.

You could make the same arguments for Repuplicans who get torched by the left for being in the vicinity when legislation gets passed they don't approve of. I'm sure this writer wouldn't bother to go to great lengths, as he has here, to explain how everything works to defend a Pepuplicans record. It's called politics and it's dirty and often unfair. Both sides practice the dark art and Democrats are actually much better at it than Repuplicans.

How so? By saying that the GOP isn't any better? This deal stinks - Pelosi didn't write the bill, but that doesn't say she didn't have influence in what it said. And why is Samoa better than the Marianas? Because the Marianas may have given more money to the GOP?

If the minimum wage law is so detrimental to the Samoas, why isn't it equally detrimental to any other place where jobs are threatened? (Puerto Rico, the Marianas, or even CA).

And I'm not so sure that the GOP had anything to say before the vote. Pelosi did say that they didn't have "time" to allow the GOP to confer on the "first 100 hour" agenda.

Typical innuendo Republican-bashing - the author can't bring himself to be objective over the minimum-wage issue. Deep down he knows that the issue stinks. Hell, even the New York Times, in 1987, was calling for an end to the minimum-wage.
