He's trying to warm up Alaska.

No wonder the ice caps are melting.

I liked the part where he was looking at the camera and his mouth moved a little. But throwing the rock was just way too predictable. I mean, you had to see that coming a mile away.

Here's a gem from the You Tube comments:

It doesnt matter if your a life long Democrat. Look up Ron Paul. He crosses all party lines. We've never had a chance to elect a leader like him in over 100 years. He would be like getting the chance to elect a world peace leader like Ghandi. In our lifetime I hope we can someday have such a leader in the Whitehouse. Ron Paul can restore that hope!

The comments on You Tube are goofy and it's hard to follow threads so I have no idea who this guy is responding to but maybe this Mike Gravel guy is sending out mind control waves to vote for Ron Paul?

He didn’t speak, because he’s got a Gravelly voice.

I myself believe he's the Lizard King--he can do ANYTHING!

He definitely broke on through to the other side

I'd say his brain is squirming like a toad.

Seriously, Gravel lost most of us up in AK when he came out for putting a dome over the state.

It's not a dome, it's a greenhouse. For growing your pot! Geesh...for a DUmmie, you got no vision.

I guess I picked the wrong time to stop smoking dope.

Half an hour ago?

it's refreshing to see a political candidate for high office "stop to smell the flowers".

Specifically, poppies.

is Mike Gravel on acid?

Clearly not. Otherwise, when the woman walked by in the dark clothing and sunglasses, he would have shouted out "Oh, babe, you just left the most incredible trails!

I love Gravel, he makes virtually every other candidate look moderate.

Moderate? Hell, this guy makes Dennis Kucinich look like Attila the Hun.

Vote Gravel. Put the "high" back in "high office."

is he trying to get an endorsement from Smokey the Bear?

Could be. Bill Clinton got the endorsement from Huggy Bear.

Tonight I go to a ballgame here in St. Louis (Cards vs. Royals), and tomorrow I leave for Wisconsin for a conference (on catechesis). Then it's down to Chicago (my hometown) for another ballgame Saturday (Cubs vs. Sox), and then back up to Wisconsin to meet the fam for a week's vacation in Door County (Fish Creek). July 1 we're attending an ordination in Muscatine, Iowa, presided over by the bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya! Back in St. Louis on July 2.

I'm taking my laptop along, so I should be able to DUFU some, but it may be hit-and-miss.

Fellow DUFUists and LCMSers Cletus.D. Yokel and bcsco and I were going to get together for a BBQ in Chicago this Sunday, but that fell through and will have to wait till another time.

The backstory on the video is this: Originally Gravel intended to separate himself from the field by doing a family values montage, ending with his throwing a stone into a nearby lake, a la the lead-in to the old Andy of Mayberry show.

Unfortunately shortly before the taping he discovered his dog was a racist, and was stuned so seriesly he temporily lost his ability to speak. Sadly, the production company was filming the spot pro bono and the show had to go on at all costs...

Yeah, that's too bad, but we'll get it done some other time. Have a great couple games, then time up in the peninsula. Stay away from the fish boils, though. Yuck!

Check out his call into the Laura Ingraham show. He mistakes her for Dr. Laura S.
