Congressman John Murtha gave a press conference yesterday to repeat his usual sound bites: there is no progress in Iraq, Republicans will (someday) abandon the President, etc., etc.
One reporter was not with the program. The Hill reports today...

Conservative writer Jeff Gannon, who was in the audience, challenged Murtha on another statement he had made, that Marines in Haditha had killed Iraqi civilians "in cold blood." Charges have been dropped against several Marines, though others remain charged with murder. Gannon asked Murtha if he would apologize, and Murtha refused.
"The trials are not over yet," Murtha said, reddening slightly in the face.
Also in response to Gannon, Murtha tersely deemed inappropriate the newspaper advertisement taken out by the liberal group MoveOn.org criticizing commanding Gen. David Petraeus as "General Betray Us." Without elaborating, Murtha said "Yes" when asked if he would distance himself from the ad.
Murtha also took issue with the administration's reports of military progress in Iraq, though he voiced no criticism of Petraeus.
"The administration now appears content with running out the clock," Murtha said. "I have seen no progress. No progress."

Thank you, Jeff Gannon. You were the only reporter to challenge Murtha yesterday and you are the first reporter to challenge Murtha about his "they killed innocent civilians in cold blood" slander. Well done, sir. Now if only others will follow your example.

Jeff Gannon is BACK???? For WHO?
That was my first question as well! LOL
That would be THE “Jeff Gannon” right?
No one else would have the balls to say anything to Murtha.
He’s freelancing, as far as I know. I’ll send him a link to this thread and ask him for an update.
Thanks for the weasel ping.
It is just SEW no fair to hold a politician to account for what he said. No wonder Murtha was angry!
Actually, they are. The ones that count, anyway.
The WARRIORS have all had their hearings. And it is they who were viciously accused by Murtha of killing in cold blood. No battalion command, company commander, or platoon leader fired even one shot in any of those buildings. None have been accused of doing so.
The killing was done by the soldiers on the ground. All of them have been through their Art 32s.
I'm betting they will not even go to court martial.
If NONE OF THE SHOOTERS are guilty of murder, then the cold-blooded murder accusation is proven false.
Nailing some general because he did not pass along info fast enough to suit some politician does not negate a finding of INNOCENT of murder.
I don’t know anything about the reporter’s personal life, and don’t care.
If is shocked you, it's probably him.
Was he blushing in shame or reddening in irritation?
Irritation. It’s obvious he has no shame.
The question comes at 39:20 into the video and, unfortunately, the camera goes into a long shot at that point so Murtha's reaction is not visible.
If anybody know how to beat whatever protection is on Real Player vids, let me know! Here's a direct link to the video: Murtha on Gen. Petraeus Report from C-Span, today at National Press Club
Murtha is a coward and misinformed, there have been no trials, only hearings.
Thanks for this thread, Red.

Excellent post, Star!
You simply have to understand that some Freepers expect everyone to be practically perfect in every way, otherwise they have zip zero nada credibility. Gannon has made some personal life choices that I find repugnant. However, he has enough courage to openly ask a jackass like Murtha to apologize for his inflammatory statements against Marines who were subsequently found innocent, and he took him to task for the Petraeus ad and at least got him to distance himself from it; something MSM types appear reluctant to do. For these things I thank him.
