Ironically, I don’t support vouchers either because of how that brings grant earmarks into private schools. If something like Healthy Schools gets off the table completely, then I could reexamine vouchers. But with grant angles shirt tailing, the vouchers would be a mechanism for a foot in the door.

I agree! I would like to see private/parochial schools flourish, but I think vouchers from Big Brother would ruin them. The same goes for homeschooling - government funding through tax credits might sound attractive, but it would ruin it.

I’ve met families that switch their children between a Christian school and homeschooling from year to year. I think that’s great. We would love to find an affordable private school for our children, but they’re all out of our price range. Still, I don’t want a voucher system, just like I don’t want universal healthcare. (It’s all the same to me.)

But there are other issues to consider Hunter on. I haven’t ruled anyone out yet.

Don’t overlook the point of this thread. I know I added alot on here; but I have to do it that way. There is no few lines I’ve found to explain it all.

The point of the material I added, HSDLA has endorsed Mike Huckabee.

HSDLA is very familiar with Healthy People 2010.

Mike Huckabee is a paid for endorser and promoter of Healthy People 2010.

Healthy People 2010 will END homeschooling.

HSDLA was first out with that information.

Doesn’t Hunter also support school choice? That sets up competition, the elixer of upgrading standards across the board.

School vouchers can go both ways.

This Healthy People 2010 initiative seeps into programs via the monies and contracts.

It is very big and we have been following it for years.

Vouchers, the idea, can work well to promote competition, this is true. But it is grant ‘infestations’ that corrupt them.

Healthy People/Healthy Schools needs to be killed off. NGOs need to be cleaned up, then, heck, after that, we may not even need a voucher program! But, the immediate concern is killing off the beast, Healthy People 2010.

And HSDLA endorse Huckabee, the poster child for the beast.

I think that is what it means, no? The vouchers are the vehicle that lends school choice. The vouchers attach the property tax money that is alloted to the school funding.

HSLDA was probably simply not aware of Mike Huckabees involvement. I will look into the articles that you have mentioned and see if I can find something that I could show to some of my HSLDA/PHC friends.

I seriously question why a failing school should receive Federal funding. The competition for students is what would stimulate upgrading standards.

Without vouchers, the schools with the largest student bodies would receive a like percentage of local property taxes, and operate inside those perimeters. Believe me, it would not be long before ALL the public schools would improve their curriculum AMD their methods of teaching just to stay viable. The tax payer would be in a better position to determine both.

I would like to see the Federal government completely OUT of the school funding business, and control of public schools completely within local domain. It worked for a few hundred years. Why wouldn’t it work today?

Too many things broken to see what needs to be fixed.

The school issue has turned into the stereotypical, “Hi, I’m here from the government and I’m here to help”.

Don’t overlook the point of this thread.

Thanks for pointing out the link between Huckabee and Healthy People 2010. You should've been an investigative reporter. I still remember when you first came across suspicious information about Healthy People 2010.
