Frontline convinces me - Haditha Marines innocent

In a shocking turn of events the PBS documentary on Haditha was overwhelmingly even-handed and convinced me they should face no punishment. The show was fair and I have no complaints about bias or slant. This is what PBS ought to do all the time.

This is my in-depth look at the incident from a decision point perspective. What are our troops thinking and is that the right decision. Haditha was a horrible loss of life, but the decisions were correct if not perfect. Jules Crittenden reviewed the show here.

The response to last night's broadcast has been overwhelmingly positive. Phil Brennan at NewsMax didn't like it, but what I care about most is the facts still came through. Uncle Jimbo's piece at Blackfive, the most influential milblog, bears that out. The response at The Jawa Report is typical: Haditha Marines vindicated.

I haven't seen a single reaction from the Left. I wish I had. We need to change more minds about Haditha and I hope that can still happen.

No reaction from the left might be a good reaction. PBS took the issue to a much wider audience in a manner surprisingly neutral in comparison to the slanderous methods used elsewhere.

Shows like Frontline are part of the elite media, and they help set the agenda for mainstream media outlets. Sooner or later, CNN and MSNBC (among others) have to ask Murtha some tough questions about the massacre he promised them.

Although I appreciated the ‘Frontline’ documentary and believe that the producers genuinely tried to step back and present a fair picture, Phil Brennan does raise some very valid points.
