The expense of this is incredible, and it’s apparently at request of the prosecutors. The money they’ve dumped into dissecting seconds and micro-seconds in the lives of soldiers trying simply to do their duty is testimony to a desire to “get” them.
Notice that Tony Perry continued to use the thoroughly disproven “24 civilians” description. It makes everything else he says suspect. He’s part of the old “let’s prove an atrocity” crowd.
I’m glad the defense attorneys are accompanying to do their own questioning.
I hope against hope that the defense attorneys have hired their own interpreter/translators and are video-recording everything. I hope their interp/trans are also making translations of what the prosectors are asking and receiving from their own inter/trans hires.
It’s a relief to me that it’s confirmed the defense attorney’s will be there.
Maybe it’s wishful thinking on my part but I don’t see how the Iraqi witnesses can be effective for the prosecution after what we’ve seen and read of them. None of them have come across as truthful or credible that I’ve noted.
I believe the defense attorneys should be able to tie them in knots.
You make a good point about the defense having their own translators, Chaplain. As for the taping I’m pretty sure it has to be on video tape, that was mentioned on one of the previous threads.
