Cut off their jobs, their welfare, their healthcare, and their other freebees and some will leave. Any illegals left, start deporting them. Word will spread and more will leave. Keep deporting the rest. I honestly don’t care how long it will take and I don’t want to hear it can’t be done since it has not been tried.

The answer lies in enacting & enforcing new criminal laws that whack employers of undocumented workers and whack ‘em hard. It should include probation & a stiff fines for the 1st offense and increasingly longer mandatory jail times + stiffer fines for 2nd & subsequent offenses. The guy hiring a 15-man roofing crew of illegals could face some serious hard time & bankruptcy. Why won’t this happen? Because too many Senators & Representatives would have to give up their Mexican housekeepers, Guatemalan nannies, and Peruvian gardeners or face arrest, themselves. They ain’t gonna do it. But if they did, most illegals would grudgingly & certainly return to their countries of origin in a big hurry. The hard core among them - the ones making big money in drugs & illegal activity are a whole different ball of wax. They will have to be ferreted out like an infestation of rats - pursued, prosecuted, jailed, and deported. That will cost money, which should come from both the fines on illegal employers & by making these rats WORK while doing their jail time. If we MUST accept some sort of “guest worker” program (as some like Bush have proposed) then there should also be a substantial fee-for-hire imposed on the employer to help cover some of the costs attendant to these foreign workers & their families residing here - i.e. school for the kids, emergency medical care, etc. “Anchor Babies” are right out of the equation too & such a thing wouldn’t even exist were it not for “judicial legislation” that brought it about. The only way to erase it now is new legislation to eradicate it. Long overdue IMHO.

Two cents please....
