Be careful. Pitt's usage was correct in this case. What makes it confusing is that there are both noun and verb forms of
effect and
affect.
Usually, effect is a noun, meaning "result" while the verb affect meaning "to cause." As a verb, effect means "to result in" while the noun affect means "mood."
In this recent DUmmie FUnnies post, a particular humble guest correspondent played on the distinction thusly:
"The effect on their affect will effect a turbulent time in Denver."
I didn't include a use of affect as a verb; an omission I'm still kicking myself over.

This is hillaryous. PJ, may I suggest that this pic be used for future Pitt DUFUs?
My reasons are selfish: I usually read the DUmmie FUnnies on lunch break and that sweaty, hairy beer-bellied Pitt pic is about as unappetizing as Helen Thomas in a two-piece bikini.

Helen Thomas in a two-piece bikini. What have I done? Some FReeper is going to post a picture of Helen Thomas in a two-piece now. I just know it. It may have already happened, while I was arguing with myself.

Society, religious fundamentalism and black-letter law saw them as dumb beasts unfit to occupy the same space as decent people, or as petticoated chattel denied books and education and doomed to the empty existence of an inanimate decoration who could breed, had no legal defense against abuse, and usually kept quiet.I picture Pitt stroking his chin as he wrote this.

*** So the Ken Norton Effect isn't affected. ***
