Two Republican congressmen are calling for a probe into alleged sweetheart deals by a controversial mortgage lender, after ties by a former Barack Obama aide to Countrywide Financial Corp. sparked questions about other arrangements with some members of Congress.

Reps. Darrell Issa of California and Mark Souder of Indiana called for the investigation in a letter to Rep. Henry Waxman, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. They said a probe is needed to make sure “tainted” officials recuse themselves from weighing in on legislation favorable to mortgage lenders.

The letter came after two senators, Chris Dodd, D-Conn., and Kent Conrad, D-N.D., were singled out as benefiting from low-rate loans from Countrywide. The lender has been criticized by Obama and others for contributing to the sub-prime mortgage meltdown. The company attracted new scrutiny nearly two weeks ago when it was reported that Jim Johnson, an adviser vetting Barack Obama’s running mates, appeared to receive special treatment from Countrywide.

Johnson quit the campaign in response.

DODD WANTS THEM TO GIVE THEIR PROFITS TO "FRIENDLY" CONGRESSMEN.

It should be sad and telling that satirizing the democrats as out and out communists is hard to tell AS satire.

One would almost think this came from the AP.

Is this satire or plagarizing Maxine Waters?

"hard to tell"

That's what's so funny about Semmens's satires. They're so close to what Dems might actually say it's difficult to determine if it's a joke or it's real. Dems say so many crazy things anyway why wouldn't they something as egregiously stupid as what Semmens has them saying.

Where the Rats are concerned, it’s hard to tell satire from reality any more.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH. FAIR? Sounds like Socialism by a new name, to me!

Life's Not Fair, Senator Dodd. If Life was fair, you would not be in Congress and I would.

satire?... or not. you be the judge.

When it comes to democrats, I just can't tell anymore. No matter how outrageous the satire, they turn around and do it in real life.

Earlier today, NY democrat Rep. Maurice Hinchey (a member of the House Appropriations Committee) said out loud, "We (the government) should own the refineries. Then we can control how much gets out into the market."

If they really want to go down this road, they should renounce all salaries and benefits and serve the people for free.

In the Democrats’ way of thinking...

Money taken by force (taxes) is noble. Those who do this are the aristocracy.

Money earned by work or investment is ignoble. Those who do this are the peasants.
