Senator Says Government Should Determine Profits for Busines
AZCONSERVATIVE ^ | 14 June 2008 | John Semmens

Posted on 06/18/2008 3:19:48 PM PDT by John Semmens

In an action that many are saying vaults him into the lead for a vice-presidential nomination on the Democratic ticket, Senator Christopher Dodd (Conn.) argued that the government ought to set limits on the profits businesses can make in order to ensure “fairness.”

“It’s not fair that some businesses make a large profit, while others suffer losses,” Dodd asserted. “Government has the power and, I believe, the know-how, to equalize inequitable differentials and establish a happy medium for all. Just because a business is fortunate enough to have low costs or high sales is no reason why it should hog all the benefits for itself.”

Under Dodd’s so-called “just right” profits plan, a business that has profits that are deemed “too high” would be ordered to share the excess with businesses whose profits are deemed “too low.” Dodd said his plan is modeled on a program from the 1970s in which oil companies that had low-cost sources of crude oil were required to write checks to companies that had high cost sources. “I think the plan worked well before it was jettisoned by Reagan,” Dodd contended. “It’s time to give it another try in a broader application.”

Senator Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), a rival for the VP slot accused Dodd of stealing her idea. “This is my ‘Goldilocks’ plan under another name,” she said. “I’m the one Senator Obama should be thanking for it.”

Gee, communism reigns in the Senate. Always knew that Dodd was anit-capitalism, anti-democracy and possibility a traitor. This clinches it.

Wow, the Dems are really coming out of the closet now. First, they are going to nationalize the oil industry, then they’re going to determine what level of profits a business can make.

They must feel really confident about November. They are now out in the open about who they really are: Marxists.

azconservative.org seems to consistently be satire.

I hope it’s satire, but I can sure hear those words spewing out of Dodd’s vodka-hole...

It should be sad and telling that satirizing the democrats as out and out communists is hard to tell AS satire.

"azconservative.org seems to consistently be satire."

Would be even funnier if their own Senator didn't agree with their Communist satire:

"But the point is, the oil companies have got to be more participatory in alternate energy, in sharing their profits in a variety of ways"

- Comrade Juan McNuts

I think we should extend that “Fairness” doctrine to Number of Senators one party can have in the Senate.

50-50.

We can always flip the coin to break the tie. Maybe do it three times to be extra fair.

Dem-o-rat Congressthug calls for nationalizing refineries.

I could not automatically dismiss this as a joke, knowing the RATS. Pretty sad when you have to stop and wonder if it is a joke or not.

No kidding.

On their list of things to do:

1. Nationalize Oil Companies

2. Government to determine “Fair” Business profits

3. Appoint themselves as Kings and Queens.

4. Outlaw homeschooling.

5. Institute that only libs can have children.

6. Tax only Christian Conservatives, and the “rich”

7. Kill the disabled and “useless eaters” to death by starvation.

8. Steal the rest of the private property of those who are not an elitist.

9. Disband all conservative churches as illegal hate groups.

10. Enact the “Fairness Doctrine” and hate speech laws.

10. Round up the “citizens” and make us their slaves, oh, they have already done that.

Don’t these Democrat idiots have any understanding of our form of government? It’s not government’s job to determine whether profits are “fair”. Businesses take risks - if they do well, more power to them. Also, B. Hnussein says that government should “redistribute income” (another Rat favorite). We’re headed toward the united Socialist States of Amerika with this bunch. Piss on all of them.

And nationalizing oil refineries has the same results as determining reasonable profits for business.

The time is coming when people are not going to take this anymore.

God Almighty. Strike these people down McCain, buy a clue, come home to conservatism if you want to be a hero.

Calling McCain, oh McCain, please pick up the phone and get it right.

Yup. But it looks sooooo much better than “nationalizing”
