I'm trying to figure something out. If Hawaii became a state 2 years before Obama was born at his mom's age of 19, how could that satisfy the 5 year rule in the US after the age of 16? I'm having a very difficult time following what the controversy is, his citizenship, birth record or both.
First, it is understood that she was 18 when he was born.
Second, if I recall the law also applied to the U.S. Territories also. So even though it was a territory during part of that time it would count.
IF he was born in Hawaii he would be a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN regardless. But IF he was born outside the US, say Kenya, his mother though a citizen did not meet the requirements.
He may at some point have become a NATURLIZED citizen, but you have to be a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN to qualify to become President of the US
All of this has come about because his campaign was asked to show a Birth Certificate. The DailyKos and one of Baracks own websites choose to put up a phony one on their Webb site. Buy doing so they have lit the fire.
