If he wasn’t born in Hawaii...where was he born?

I hope everyone doesn't get bogged down about his place of birth. I think it quite probable he was born in Hawaii - I think it is OTHER information on his real BC that he doesn't want to see the light of day...

see my post #240

Also, there's the matter of his parents races.

His mother is listed as "Caucasian" but his father's as "African."

"African" is not a race...Teresa Heinz Kerry is "African", having been born there - as are millions of others of all colors and races.

Let's not let this get away from us by chasing the wrong question

Again, if born in Hawaii, and considering the nature of the times (1961), they'd use whatever words they'd think normal.

"Black" wouldn't be among them. Hawaii is nearer the Equator and there are vast numbers of folks there with "full tans", with those who work outdoors frequently best being described as "burned black".

"Race", in 1961, in Hawaii, would require different answers than anything you've yet suggested.

BTW, way back in the early 60s I discovered that "Caucasion" was not as widely understood as it presumably is today.

I was counseled by the motor vehicle folks to "just use white because Caucasion looks like colored".
