After all, the guy had apparently never heard of a condom (1955, possibly true)

You could buy them in gas stations in '55, as well in '60 and '61, just like you sometimes still can. They just weren't on the shelf of the Walgreens, Kresge's, or the local "drug store".

Condoms are centuries old technology. Although lubricated ones only go back to the mid '50 or so. (Not all condoms are made of "rubber", or other artificial material).

The condom ‘toss-in’ on the vaccination topic was my (bad) idea of a joke.

But really, look what 49 cents not spent is now costing this great nation.
