I don't know what Christopher Nolan's politics are [He directed and co-wrote the screenplay with his brother] but even if he's a liberal, he backs into so many conservative ideas it's easy to see why this puke dislikes the film. FReepers should take this review as the highest possible recommendation.

The Dark Knight is not only the most intelligently written, best directed, thoroughly well acted film of the year, but it's possibly the best niche-genre film ever made, and it's got great action to boot. In an age where most movies -- and all superhero fanboy movies -- operate at the level of a 95 minute video game, this film delivers on a variety of levels for a full 150 minutes. If you haven't seen it, go see it. Nobody has ever so faithfully captured the underlying menace of the original Batman comics the way Nolan has.

Rush's call-in was correct: the film is full of conservative themes, but unlike some preachy leftwing propaganda piece, it delivers on entertainment first and foremost. Highly recommended.
