The Jews who fled eastern Europe 1880-1910 were mostly people with nothing to lose, they had no property, no prospects, not much education, no reason to hang around, although they also pulled other family members with them once established. Those who owned industries and businesses, homes, and had professional status, the establishment, were eventually wiped out. None of this has anything to do with today’s generation or the current election. American Jews traditionally vote upwards of 70 per cent Democrat and that’s not going to change any time soon. There are liberals and conservatives in all ethnic groups and I see no purpose in singling out Jews for this discussion. You can do the same for the Irish. Here in Israel the concept “liberal” Jew is unknown. It usually goes observant 33 per cent, atheist-agnostic 33 per cent, and neither here nor there 33 per cent. The important fact is that the large majority serve in the army, which makes them patriots.

In 2004 one of the best predictors of voting pattern was church or synagogue attendance. Those who went regularly voted republican, those that went once or twice yearly or never voted Democrat.
Since the immigrant pattern of America's Jews led that community to become the least religious in America -non-Orthos going 1-2 times a year or never, it is not surprising that most Jews are not only JINO, but also Dem.
