I like the peacock feather. Too bad I’m slightly allergic to feathers :) As long as they’re small and used sparingly, they’re quite tasteful.
IMO, anything described as “edgy” in a fashion magazine is by definition not edgy. Especially when it is being simultaneously described as the next big thing. (The necklace at the top is nice, however.)
Maybe now I’ll stop being so lazy and get back to the flytying vice.
I was told that peacock feathers were considered bad luck by my great-grandmother when I was a little girl and never to wear one. Who knows.
In Asia, the feathers of the peacock are considered auspicious and protective. However in the early part of the 20th-century in the West, it was considered very bad luck to keep them in the home.
The reason for the superstition has more to do with the eye-like markings at the tips of the feathers which, around the Mediterranean, recall the dreaded “evil eye”— the ever watchful and envious glance of the she-demon, Lilith. She was blamed for otherwise inexplicable deaths of infants, among other misfortunes.
