Thought I would give everyone a break from politics and the online war rooms. My personal favorite is Black Saint and Sinner Lady by Charlie Mingus. Probably one thing I think nat Hentoff doesn't get enough credit for is his jazz writing as he is truly a link with the storied past of jazz. I'm going to really miss him when he finally leaves us.

For big band jazz I would recommend anything by Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, The John LaBarbera Big Band, The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and the University of North Texas One O’Clock Lab Band.

“...I have had numerous people ask me about what they should buy if they wanted to sample some jazz but do not know where to begin...”

If you want to hook somebody on jazz, there’s no better place to start than Holly Cole. Her version of “Get Outta Town” reached out and grabbed me.
