It is - that and the front numeric keypad are the reasons I bought the phone. Front numeric makes touch-dialing a breeze (or I can just speak a name or number and have Voice Command dial for me).

The slideout keyboard is ideal for a few sentences of texting or e-mails. It’s actually usable for small amounts of text. For anything more, it’s the Redfly.

About the only thing I’d like to see in the i760 is 256 MB of program memory - 64 MB can be a bit too small sometimes...

Heh... 64 meg is too small sometimes... my first computer was a 64*K* Apple IIe. ;’) The ProDOS max hard drive partition was 32 megs... now the digital cameras come loaded, and I’ve got more flash memory in the house (actually, in one small case) than in all the computers combined. :’D

Eating our words: Apple's Mac mini to rock on
by Kasper Jade

Thanks partly to Intel's rapid phase out of previous generation Core 2 Duo mobile processors and associated components, the impending update will see the mini gain its most significant architectural overhaul since its transition from Motorola-made PowerPC processors to Intel chips back in February of 2006. Among the improvements destined for the new lineup are 45-nanometer Core 2 Duo mobile chips starting at 2.1GHz with 3MB of shared L2 cache, an 800MHz front-side bus (up from 667MHz), and a step up to the same Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics processor employed by the existing line of 13-inch consumer MacBooks... Also on tap from Apple in the not too distant future are a refreshed line of all-in-one iMac desktops which will similarly shed their 65nm, second-generation Merom chips for Intel's new Penryn-based models ranging up to the 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme. International resellers have recently begun clearing stock of existing iMac models in anticipation of the update.
Informed players say Apple's Mac mini still kickin'

In a report published this week titled the "The State of the Mac mini," Las Vegas-based Macminicolo, the largest Mac mini colocation firm, reaches the same conclusions. The company, which operates a server farm of 400 Mac minis, notes that "it's just about as familiar with the Mac mini as anyone" and claims it "is certain there is another mini on the way." The report both attempts to dispel some common misconceptions about the mini's sales volume, as well as outline a few features that are said to be "100% confirmed" for the impending update. Specifically, it notes that the mini sells to businesses over consumers at roughly a 2 to 1 ratio... Brian Stucki, who owns and operates the Mac mini colocation service... tells AppleInsider that small businesses comprise the majority of his clientele, primarily due to cost savings. Not only does a mini fetch about one fourth the cost of an Xserve, but hosting fees for the smaller systems are similarly a quarter of that of the Apple rack-mount servers... "When I read online of people stating 'poor mini sales,' I'm surprised," Stucki wrote in the this week's report. "The Mac mini is consistently in the top five of Amazon's Bestselling Desktop Computers. (It's currently number one.) If you watch Apple's Refurb site, anytime some Mac minis are posted they sell out in under an hour. Even the three year old G4 Mac minis on ebay go for a price close to the brand new Intel machines sticker price. The market speaks even if Apple doesn't."
The Ambiguous Future Of Apple's Mac mini

Even though it is popular, Apple has ignored it since it was last updated on August 7, 2007, over 400 days ago. This seeming neglect has caused the Mac mini to fall behind in specs... Even though the specs of the current Mac mini are old, the price of the computer hasn't dropped to reflect it. Recognizing this problem, I still think the current Mac mini is a worthwhile purchase. I would much rather buy one than a Windows PC of the same price with slightly beefier specs. For me, the benefits of Mac OS X far outweigh the benefits of having 802.11n, a slightly faster processor and a larger HD capacity... Due to the countless number of conflicting reports, I won't believe any rumors related to the Mac mini until I here news straight from the horse's mouth... A merger of the Apple TV and the Mac mini makes some sense to me, but only if it has the full Mac OS X and not a stripped down version like on the iPhone. A stripped down operating system on an Apple TV/Mac mini hybrid would only appeal to those who use the Mac mini as a media hub connected to an HD TV... because of Vista's poor reception, there are flocks of Windows users coming to the Mac platform. Having an affordable starter Mac would entice several interested in the Mac to finally take a plunge in new waters. Once they realize the value of a Mac, these new users would be more apt to buy an iMac, MacBook, and more Apple products in the future.
