If they destroyed Governor Palin as a potential GOP presidential nominee still remains to be seen. Certainly they damaged her reputation among the politically ignorant. Most conservatives and even Republicans still love her.
At least they haven't destroyed her personal life and for now, she is Governor of Alaska, has a nice family and a good life to return to in Alaska.
