The same was said when the Democrats lost seats in 2002 and 2004. Jon Stewart even did a skit about the death of the Democrat party.

Forgive me if I don’t accept the premise as a set fate.

All the same, based on the actions of the Republican Party currenly I don’t foresee a return of the majority soon. But not because it’s unattainable. Rather because of the unwillingness to accept responsibility and be governed by principle among the leadership.
