My guess is that bcsco, being a few miles north is above the snow-line. He’s probably looking out the window at 4-6 inches of snow right now and expecting about 4 more this morning.

When I got up at 6:30 it was a mixture of snow and ice. And it's continued that way until now. Now it's snowing HARD! Probably 3-4" on the ground so far but it's crunchy to walk on (just ask our German Shorthair). We're supposed to get 6-9" altogether. Julie has the store in DeKalb staffed with people living nearby so she's staying home today.

I'll let you know more later after I return from ringing the Salvation Army bell from noon-1 pm in front of our grocery. Did it last Friday in front of Wal-Mart but that was a fairly nice day.

Tuesday night, our Golden K club participated in the annual CAN (Children's Action Network) Needy Children's Christmas program. We volunteer to take children to Wal-Mart to buy essentials such as clothing. We meet the families at the Methodist Church's hall, and take the kids to WM while the parents enjoy cookies and such. I had 3 young Hispanic children, an 8 yo daughter and two younger brothers. Each kid got a $75 Wal-Mart gift card to cover the cost. Anyway, this was in the midst of Tuesday's 4" snowstorm. We finished shopping and I had to get the ice off the windshield and wipers before I could return to the hall. Working on the driver's wiper, the thing came off in my hand. I spent 5 minutes in the dark getting frustrated, trying to get it back on. Once back in the car, the oldest boy shouts "Hey Jim, shopping was FUN!. Thanks a lot!!". Then when we're walking into the hall he says "Boy! I shopped 'till I dropped!" I couldn't stop laughing. Windshield wiper? What windshield wiper?

Oh, and we noted at our breakfast meeting yesterday that our contributions to CAN, along with those from other organizations and businesses, provided 200 gift cards at $75 each. Not bad for a small town. I'll tell ya, doing something like that is the greatest present of all...

You are an evil, greedy, hate mongering, conservative!

A good, tolerant liberal would demand a government program to relieve you of your evil activities.

(God Bless you! If not for folks like you, this nation would fall apart....even faster.)

But . . . but . . . I thought you were an EEEVIL, cold-hearted, uncaring CONSERVATIVE who wants to STARVE CHILDREN!! And I thought GOVERNMENT was the only way to help out needy people!

BTW, apparently Rick Warren is pro-life and pro-traditional marriage. On those social issues I of course would agree with him. But I do NOT think Warren is a very good theologian and pastor. He botches the distinction between Law and Gospel pretty badly. He might be a step up from Joel Osteen, but that’s not saying a whole lot.
