The Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations recently presented a report about how hate crimes stacked up in Los Angeles County for the year of 2006. The report came back with some interesting figures on the rising tensions between African-American and Latino communities. Hate crimes directed towards African-Americans have been on the rise leading many to abandon their communities. According to an analysis by Manuel Pastor, a University of California, Santa Cruz professor, the Highland Park area was 80 percent black and 20 percent Hispanic in 1980. By 2000, it was 60 percent Hispanic, 40 percent black.

I’ll be in Highland Park tomorrow night, as that is where my in-laws (Filipino)live. It was a terrible neighborhood 20 years ago when I first met my wife & has gone even lower since then.
Well, I don’t know about Puerto Rico or other nearby islands, but the people of South and Central America are a mix of Amerindians and Europeans from Spain/Portugal.
The term for this mix is Mestizo, and it comes in varying degrees of mixture. The African mix that comes from the slave trade on the islands is something else altogether.

For the most part but Guyana, Surinam, Brazil and Belize don't fit that mold for various reasons.
It is actually funny, in a pathetic sort of way, to see the usual PC suspects try to confront what amounts to a situation of ethnic cleansing. “But (snivel), why can’t we all be friends? (snivel, whimper).”
For years, the Mexican mafia has been very clear that it does not want blacks in any Mexican neighborhood in LA. And in LA, the MM has long had so much power that it *ordered* the Crips and the Bloods to have a cease fire, “or else” the MM would systematically exterminate whoever defied them.
But the MM were purely businessmen, in it for the money. Now they are being joined by MS-13, which probably rates #2 behind al-Qaeda for being dangerously crazy. MS-13 even tried to defy the FBI, which was a bad strategic decision on their part. The FBI can play hardball too, and is not very forgiving at all.
Add to this mess the drug gang civil war going on in Mexico right now, which is showing potential to spill over into the US, which would dangerously piss off the feds and end up with a LOT of dead gang bangers.
About the only thing a black family could do to protect itself would be to intermarry with a Mexican family. Otherwise, they will be shouldered out, because the Mexicans are much better organized, and are willing to invest the time to get the territory.
Most people in Puerto Rico are descendants of white (but not Nordic) Canary Islanders (Spanish), mainland Spanish, and some other European ethnicities to include Irish, German, Corsican, Italian and some French.
There’s a large degree of inter-marriage of whites with descendants of West African slaves. There’s virtually no mix with Native Americans, and the resulting mestizoing (is that even a word?), since most of the Puerto Rico native population was wiped out early during Spanish rule.
Now, since most of Spain was occupied by the Moors for 700 years, our Spanish ancestors in turn had some mix with Arabs and North Africans in their blood, along with their culture.
From 1967 to 1970, I was in a Middle School in the San Fernando Valley. In my homeroom, there was a young mexican girl and a young black guy. They argued for THREE years about WHO was darker.

Also, IIRC, Cheryl Greene did not come from Highland Park, she lived about 25 miles south.
Fact of the matter is that ethnic groups tend to follow other ethnic groups.
Italians edged out Irish, who had edged out Germans and Poles, and so it goes. Cambodians and Vietnamese have edged out "others" to form their own communities in the same period as this article discusses,
Diference is that it is easier to get shot if you get crosswise in the Latino (sic) vs Black interface.
As Thomas Sowell had pointed it, back in the nineteenth century, Poles edged out blacks in Detroit.
In NY we had the Latin Kings beating up on disunited black gangs and independents in jails. The results was the creation of the United Blood Nation, which terrorize both other gangs and hit civilians.
The same pattern of violence occurred when blacks moved into formerly white neighborhoods 30-40 years ago. Notice, you don’t see me crying...
