The secret ballot has long been used by the Democrats to perpetuate vote fraud. After any election, there is no way to know for certain how many of the Democrat votes were from dead people, illegal aliens, multi-voters or Democrat computers. A solution to this would be to post everyone's vote (by precinct) on the web; discrepancies of any sort could be easily identified.

The secret ballot has been sold as a "security" measure to allow the timid to vote without fear of retribution. Like most such appeals to "security", it comes at a cost of freedom. Women did not get serious about being allowed to vote in the US until it had been demonstrated as safe for more than a century. The loss of the "secret ballot" security blanket might cause women and metrosexuals afraid of controversy to stop voting; perhaps we could roll back public schools, welfare and social security.

There is no doubt that unions would use intimidation in an "open" ballot. However, unions will use intimidation even with a secret ballot; they certainly use it against strikebreakers. The secret ballot is a minor encumbrance to unions: it might take them longer to find out who is opposed to unionization, but their immunity from legal restraints against violence means that they will succeed in any case. The real problem with unions is that they are allowed to exist at all (they represent a violation of the property rights of business owners).

The Democrats fear open political processes; that is why they are determined to shut down talk radio. The Democrats will benefit if states are stampeded into protecting the "secret ballot" upon which so much Democrat fraud depends.

You've got to be kidding. Without the secret ballot, our elections could soon be like those in the Soviet Union or third world dictatorships. People would lose their jobs or be subject to retaliation if they voted the wrong way (like the gaystapo's harassment of people who supported Prop. 8 in California, on a much larger scale). Having one's political donations online for anyone to see is bad enough, but this would be much worse.

Whether the Republican Party will remain viable enough to put the brakes on the most dangerous proposals from the Democrats remains to be seen, but without the secret ballot the Democrats will definitely be able to create a one-party monopoly.
