I do hope not...there is such a shortage of prison space these days...ah well who knows...sometimes they execute those charged with treason (sarcasm). Come on, this secession talk is pure BS and you probably know it.

You're right. It's just my version of Hope and Change. But keep an eye on Texas.

Lincoln gave 101 speeches on his train tour and Obum gave three. And Obum didn't write his own speeches, but he did plagurize Lincoln! He is so much like Biden.

Lincoln....History always will remember Abraham Lincoln's appeal to the "better angels of our nature."

Still, his (Obama's) stump speeches tend to cite Abraham Lincoln as his favorite political visionary. But then, Lincoln traced the source of his own inspiration back to the founders, who "four score and seven years ago" had called on Americans to embrace "the better angels of our nature." PLAGERISM!

WE ARE GOING TO SPEND OUR WAY OUT OF THE RECESSION! It is the Death of Common Sense. The drunk frat boy is in charge of the White House and he has the keys.

May just be TALK but MOST of us here in Texas would LOVE to secede. Alaska should, too! The rest of the nation would be pretty poor without Texas and Alaska. Many states are broke now. Texas is running a surplus. And we have no state income tax.

The Civil War was mainly and foremost about States’ Rights.

I don’t know if outrage is the right word. ‘Ridiculous’ seems more appropriate.

The Civil War was mainly and foremost about States’ Rights.

While the impulse behind some of the later secessions came from objections to Lincoln's call for an army to suppress the rebellion, the earlier Deep South secessions were driven almost wholly by a perceived threat to slavery. As Mississippi's declaration of secession stated:

"Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery - the greatest material interest of the world."

The Mississippi declaration falls short of the all men are created equal words in the American Declaration. But then again, the Confederacy as a whole also fell short of the United States when the time for fighting came. :)

I think his schtick—this Lincoln obsession—is going too far.

BTW, anyone know if Ford’s Theater is still in operation?

My bet would be Alaska to secede first.

Too bad it’s so cold there.

I was being sarcastic I just meant that Michelle Obama looks less like Jackie O and more like a WNBA player.
