To: Between the Lines

They are doing the rational thing and stopping play in a league that is literally “out of their league.” It has nothing to do with pity or losing by 100.

Had they lost by 50 it would be just as bad.

From what I understand both schools are 2A. They were outperformed not out of league. The boys team beat Covenant 50-38, immediately after the 100-0 girls game.

It has nothing to do with pity or losing by 100. Had they lost by 50 it would be just as bad.

The loosing team has been loosing for four years now and has lost by margins as large as 48 points. What is the difference in between now and then? Why withdraw now? What has changed?

I agree that the coach should not have run up the score, but I am curious to know if our well meaning pity has had an undesirable consequence.
