Gregg should withdraw his name, keep his Senate seat (which I bet the Dems thought they could pick up), and then go public and blast Obama and Emanuel and tell people these guys are trying to lock up the Electoral College for the next 76 years.
Which, given that the 'Rats are already serving notice that they'd like to repeal the 22nd Amendment, might mean that Obama would be President for about 44 of the 76 years, until he died of natural causes.
Imagine kids learning in their civics lessons 150 years from now, about how the courageous, leaderly President Obama put the evil White Menace in their place by becoming "our first President for Life and opening America to the World's people".
Any takers for the sucker proposition that there's nobody in Obama's political house thinking along those lines?
Concurring bump. At the risk of being called a Dittohead, I think Rush was right all along with his parsing of what Obama is doing with these cabinet nominations (I arrived at the same general conclusion myself), to-wit, he's putting a "moderate" Blue Dog/RiNO face on what will be a major episode of radical political entrenchment and Chicago-style machine politics.
This proves B.O. understands the American electorate better than you do. He knows most voters have only a quarter of a brain and it's entirely focused on all the "free" goodies they can get from his socialist wealth redistribution.
“I think he knows what Rome is. Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they’ll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they’ll roar. The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the senate, it’s the sand of the coliseum. He’ll bring them death - and they will love him for it.”
Oh, I understand only too well. I know what is happening here and I do understand the electorate. I am just a BIT surprised at the pace of all of this.
But, on the other hand it does make sense. They have to move very quickly to put things in place.
That's all they got from me in 2000. Every question beyond head count got "Two people live here" written across it. I think I'll print stickers to use in 2010.
Or to quote Iago (Rahm Emanuel): "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
Just give them "bread" (i.e., welfare) and "circuses" (i.e., unlimited sexual license).
