This in not a vote of confidence for Commerce Secretary nominee Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H. This appears to be a "cave in" to the democratic Hispanic base. They have had concerns about his nomination. Everyone knows the census data can be manipulated for partisan political reasons. A Republican working for a Democrat would be the perfect nonpartisan person to oversee the 2010 census. Instead, the White House wants to put Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in charge. When you consider the shoddy way Republicans were treated over the stimulus bill and this partisan power grab, bipartisan cooperation in Washington is about to hit a new low

Obama is clearly failing at bringing a new bipartisan atmosphere to Washington.

Hell. If Gregg had any integrity he would promise to reject his appointmnet to Commerce unless this power grab is reversed.
But I guess Commerce is a good place to make lots of money, so he'll probably just swallow it as if it didn't happen.

If Obama doesn't trust his own nominees he should quit making nominations. The permanent bureaucracy can get along quite well without the Cabinet officers and other appointees.

It’s not about trusting Gregg. Gregg is exactly what King Nothing and the illegal alien lobby needed.
The census thing is far more dangerous. This will give democrats a means to manipulate and contort for redistricting and micro managing local elections. If the GOP wants to survive, they need to get on the ball and raise 10 different kinds of hell over this change. Imagine America with ACORN conducting our census.

Controlling the census,,,,
and sending billions to ACORN...
are WONDERFUL ways to perpetuate democratic control of our government for many, many, many years.

Gregg is an idiot and should be embarrassed and ashamed to take this job. Turn it around: Gregg was offered the job because he's an idiot and because he has no sense of shame. The term "useful idiot" comes to mind.
To: Askwhy5times
Indeed. Like anyone over here actually believed 0bama was going to be “bipartisan”.

The census thing is far more dangerous. This will give democrats a means to manipulate and contort for redistricting and micro managing local elections. And of course the MSM will do its best to give this minimal and quiet coverage.
Imagine if a Republican Administration had made this chage!!
The MSM would be in a 'feeding frenzy' and it would be the top story everywhere--including the late night comics.

The only people interested in “bipartisanship” in Washington are the slack-jawed, limp-wristed “moderate republicans” who imbecile voters keep returning to betray them and their country.

..and it seems hes only looking out for himself, That could be said about most congresscritters. However, in this incidence, and if this census gerrymandering does happen, Gregg will take his place in history next to another fellow with the last name "Arnold".....
