Free Money is NOT Free

As the saying goes, "There is no free lunch." Such is the case with the massive stimulus bill signed into law by President Obama last week. Because while the bill gives states some short term money, it commits them to long term payments that may bankrupt the state governments in the long term.

Here is an example of the entitlements that will now be burdening state treasuries:

Consider South Carolina. Its annual budget is roughly $7 billion and the stimulus will send about $2.8 billion to the state over two years. But to spend the hundreds of millions of dollars allocated to the likes of Head Start, child care subsidies and special education, the state will have to enroll thousands of new families into the programs. "There's no way politically we're going to be able to push people out of the program in two years when the federal money runs out," Mr. Sanford says.,,,

,,,When you read about governors refusing to take the stimulus money its not due to partisan posturing, but it is all about saving state budgets down the road. In fact as of now 11 states have said no to the "free money" and they say the US Constitution is on their side:

OOPS. Not everyone is as stupid as Obama and Pelosi thought.
The so called Stimulus bill is littlemore then a Central Government take over bill. If the FederalGovernment gives a State several Billion dollars that the Federal Government DOES NOT HAVE, there had to be a catch.The catch is the standard one used by the left to impoverish black people for decades and get them tied into the welfare system. The Stimulus bill willget the States that accept themoney tied to the FederalGovernment more then they are. Standard Socialist Government Policy.
