I hate ribbons. Its a cheap way to be "involved". When it began with the yellow ribbons, it was for a specific idea and was a form of patriotism. We were waiting for our people, who were serving the U.S. in the diplomatic service, to return home to us.

Now, it is just another trite, meaningless gesture to make the wearer feel good about themselves with no actual need to do anything.

I hate ribbons.
